Working in new disability markets

The research team at UNSW Social Policy Research Centre wrote the report about the NDIS workforce. The information comes from a national survey of disability workers which was co-designed by the UNSW research team and the unions representing disability workers, the Health Services Union, Australian Services Union and United Workers Union.

A total of 2,341 disability workers took part in the online survey during March 2020. As a result, the survey findings accurately reflect the perspectives and experiences of disability workers themselves. The key findings include:

  • Perceptions of the NDIS
  • Working time arrangements
  • Staffing levels and service quality
  • Remuneration and income insecurity
  • Job security
  • Supervision and support
  • Training
  • Online platforms
  • Safety and reporting issues

Please access to the full report with the following blue button if you would like to learn more about the survey. Moreover, SCIA’s Social Enterprise aims to give people living with disability the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.
