For wheelchair users, the shoulders become one of the most important parts of their body.
Manual wheelchair users especially, rely on their shoulders to not only push but tasks such as transferring. Even a powerchair user will use their shoulders a significant amount.
Shoulders were never designed to work this hard, which makes them prone to damage and injury.
The next session in our ACT Peer and Family Support education series will focus on shoulder health and preservation, so that you can look after your shoulders and make sure they are looking after you.
