The NRMA has partnered with Spinal Cord Injuries Australia to identify the shortfalls of accessible car parking such as safety, space and availability called ‘Where Do I Park?’.
We know from our members that accessible parking can become a stressful and negative experience, regardless of whether your the driver or a passenger.
Recommendations highlighted include:
• More accessible parking spaces and an improved ratio of accessible parking spaces for those needing them.
• Stringent and more effective enforcement of accessible parking laws, combined with targeted educational campaigns around eligibility, criteria, laws and penalties.
• Encourage private car park operators to allow local council rangers, police or other authorised enforcement officers to access their property to issue penalties for those who are misusing the accessible parking spaces
We encourage you to contact your local representative and share this report with them. Read the report here: http://mynr.ma/mobility
