Our Representative Advocacy team is looking at Disability Service Providers. It’s a huge topic and we know you will have your own experiences on how they operate – good and bad. We want to hear them all!

We’ve been getting lots of anecdotal information on some of the issues being encountered from a lack of support worker availability, to poor communication and changes to rosters and personnel without being consulted.

Service providers must act appropriately in supporting clients and abide by a range of practice standards and codes of conduct. However, we know from hearing about peoples experiences that sometimes standards slip.

Does it matter to you if the disability support provider is registered or not?

What are your experiences using aged care support providers?

What about icare users, what’s your experience with attendant care providers?

We’ll talk you through signing service agreements, interacting with service coordinators, codes of conduct, complaints processes and working with support workers.

We will be joined by Kelly McCann who will share her personal experiences and working as a disability advocate, Local Area Coordinator and Support Coordinator. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to contribute your own thoughts.

We need your voice to help guide us in how we can advocate on this. We will use your feedback as part of our systemic advocacy to take this further.

Whether you’ve used disability service providers for years, very recently or you’re considering your options, your participation and feedback helps us in our systemic advocacy work, as well as helping our community to be better informed.
