International Women’s Day is asking everyone to #ChooseToChallenge and call out gender bias and inequality.
We can all choose to celebrate women’s achievements and help create a more gender inclusive world.
Here at SCIA, we’ve asked staff members what they #ChooseToChallenge in 2021:
Megan Bingham – Policy and Advocacy
My challenge name is: #ChooseToChallenge taboos: let’s talk about periods and reproductive health!
Tanja Jovanovic – Customer Connect
#ChooseToChallange stereotypes: ‘Women are too emotional to undertake certain types of work, especially while pregnant’
Jemma Smyth – Human Resources
#ChooseToChallenge The gender pay gap – why are women still getting paid less then men for the same job?
Tannia Smith – Customer Connect
#ChooseToChallenge – bullying: zero tolerance for everyone, everywhere
Simone Richardson – Policy and Advocacy
My aim for #ChooseToChallenge would be to crush the stereotype that women who are assertive are deemed ‘bossy’ when in fact, confidence and a strong sense of self are so vital to good health and wellbeing!
Claudia James – NeuroMoves
I #ChooseToChallenge gender inequalities with sport
Susan Wood – Marketing and Communications
I #ChooseToChallenge people’s stereotypes about what ‘ladylike’ means. I think there’s still an expectation that women have to act a certain submissive way. We need strong assertive women. I am a lady and therefore anything I do is, in fact, ‘ladylike’, right?
Michelle Kearney – Marketing and Communications
I #ChooseToChallenge women to make themselves a priority
What will you #ChooseToChallenge this year?
