The New South Wales Government is reviewing the New South Wales Disability Inclusion Act to see if it has achieved its aims, and to look at what needs to be done to bring it up to date.
In order to ensure that the views of people with disability are properly represented we are holding a community consultation to obtain feedback from our members and supporters. The Physical Disability Council of NSW is hosting this consultation in collaboration with the SCIA, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, MDNSW and Stroke Recovery Association.
Date: Wednesday 11 March, 2020
Where: McKell Room, New South Wales Parliament House
6 Macquarie Street, Sydney 2000
When: 1:00pm – 3:00pm or 5:00pm – 7:00pm
RSVP: Click here
If you are a SCIA member or person with disability, we invite you to register your interest in attending.
SCIA will be making a submission to this important review. We’d love to hear your feedback on things such as:
- Is it your experience that Disability Inclusion Action Plans, which are required by the Act, are working effectively or not?
- Do you feel you have gained better access to community because of them?
- Do you think the Disability Inclusion Act has achieved its goals?
- What do you think could be done to improve the Act?
A discussion paper/website has been developed which outlines many of the areas relevant to the legislation, along with a survey that you can fill in.
The deadline for submissions and the survey is 30 March, 2020.
