Jason Wright has been a valued member of SCIA’s Peer and Family Support Team in Newcastle for years. He’s now moving on to continue his amazing work in our Sydney/Central Coast Peer and Family Support team!

Ask anyone at SCIA why they do what they do, and they will all tell you the same thing.  They do it for the satisfaction of knowing they are making a difference in the lives of those affected by spinal injury, disability or neurological condition.

Recovering from a spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the hardest things a human can do. It takes determination, perseverance and extraordinary amounts of self-belief. But it also takes a dedicated support network.

A team of caring and hardworking professionals, such as our Peer & Family Support team, help many people adjust to their new life.

Living with disability themselves, their support can include anything from assisting you with your mobility and advice for developing the skills to succeed in everyday life, to helping you make connections in the community and setting you up for an independent life. Whilst this team do it for the love of helping others, that doesn’t mean that they don’t appreciate being recognised.

That’s why for this week’s Good News Monday, we’re taking an opportunity to celebrate Jason Wright who has been an invaluable part of our Peer and Family Support team in Newcastle for years! He has worked tirelessly to help not just those with disabilities, but their families and friends. In the process, building up a bit of a fan club…

“Please pass on that Jason has been a fantastic advocate for the inpatients and helped immensely with their confidence in entering the community after what is often a very lengthy hospital stay.”

“I would like to express our sincere thanks to Jason for his continued support and care provided to patients, families and staff over the past two years. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you and I know your support and kindness has had a great impact on many who are going through a challenging time in life.”

Congratulations Jason and thanks for giving all of us here in Newcastle your heart and soul over the last few years.  We wish you all the very best in your new role and have no doubt you will soon be getting fan mail from the grateful residents of the Sydney/Central Coast region as well!
