Depending on your needs, Dan, Heidz and Rob from SCIA’s Peer and Family Support Team explain the cost of their own wheelchairs and why there is a lot of anxiety when it comes to travelling with a wheelchair.
Educating people on the cost of equipment for a person with a disability is important, because in this case, wheelchairs are specifically designed to fit the individual and their needs – one size doesn’t fit all. For most people, mobility equipment, such as a wheelchair, is used every day. So, the cost of a standalone wheelchair doesn’t include repairs, servicing and replacements.
