Who we are
Learn MoreSCIA is a for-purpose organisation working for people living with spinal cord injury and other neuro conditions. We were founded by people with SCI in 1967; people with disability make up over 23% of our staff, and the majority of our Board have a spinal cord injury.
Living with a Disability
At Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA), we work with you to shape a life that’s full of choice, connection and independence.
Whatever stage in your journey, whether you want to find lived-experience advice, accessible exercise facilities, mental health support or if you need help to advocate for your rights, we’ll be there alongside you.

About SCIA's Community
Joining our community means becoming part of a nationwide community built by and for people with spinal cord injury and neurological conditions.
Membership is free for individuals with lived-experience and their family or carers, and just $10 per year for professionals — so every voice and perspective is welcomed.
As a member, you will help shape SCIA’s direction, contribute to decisions at our annual meetings and stand with others working toward a barrier-free future.

For Organisations
At SCIA, we work alongside organisations to build truly inclusive workplaces. Whether you’re crafting accessible spaces, delivering sector-specific inclusion training, managing wheelchair-accessible transport, or sourcing trusted industry solutions with our Social Enterprise, we tailor support that empowers your team and reflects the real needs of people with lived-experience.
