The third part of the NDIS Internal Review Workshop FAQs has been available. In this video, Jade shares her experiences of Case Conferences and discusses the topic with the top five questions from that session.

NDIS Internal Review Workshop FAQs Part Three

The Case Conference is an essential step in accessing NDIS support. In most cases, it is the first step after the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) accepts your application. It is an informal, private meeting arranged by the AAT. Generally, the conference will include you and/or your family member or trusted friend and a representative of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

At the meeting, the participants will discuss your goals and needs based on the case, review any existing supports, and identify any additional supports you may need. They will try to help you and the Agency reach an agreement in the meeting. If not, the outcome of the conference will be a case plan that involves the following content:

    • The issues resolved, and the issues that remain in dispute
    • Date, time and location of conciliation or hearing
    • Any additional information that you or the Agency must give the AAT
    • Whether there are other persons, such as family members, carers or doctors, who you want to attend the conciliation or hearing
    • What information you and the Agency will present at a Hearing
    • Any accessibility and communication needs you have
    • Anything else that will ensure the process is fair and as quick as possible.

Moreover, the plan is reviewable and amendable based on the applicant’s circumstances change.

The Top questions about the NDIS Internal Review

In addition to briefly introducing the Case Conference, Jade discusses five questions, including:

    • Is there more than one Case Conference?
    • What happens if I can’t make my Case Conference?
    • What should the solicitor representing the NDIA be providing before my Case Conference?
    • How can I prepare for my Case Conference?

Please watch the video for the full content. If you are interested in the topic, the two links (part one, part two) will lead you to the previous two NDIS Internal Review Workshops.

Furthermore, our Policy & Representative team will be pleased to help you resolve issues that impact your independence and ability to live the life you choose. Meanwhile, our NDIS Support Coordination team can provide comprehensive support with a professional and person-centred approach for your whole NDIS journey.
