SCIA signs non‑financial MOU with Ethical SDA Lithgow

    • Dion Bairle

We’re pleased to share that Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) has signed a non‑financial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ethical SDA Lithgow. This partnership will enable our Peer & Family Support Team to expand our reach and provide lived experience support directly to the Lithgow (and surrounds) community.

Under the MOU, our Peer & Family Support Team will:

    • connect with local SCI families to provide lived experience support and create a stronger connection within the spinal cord injury community
    • share information, resources and practical guidance
    • participate in joint initiatives that build community connection
    • contribute insights to help support providers better understand the needs of people with SCI

SCIA Peer and Family Support Manager, Rob Wynn said ” Our Peer & Family Support Team walks alongside people at every stage, sharing real world experience, practical solutions and hope. Partnering with Ethical SDA Lithgow means more people can connect with peers and get the right support at the right time in Regional NSW.”

A sentiment shared by Senior Peer Support & Development Officer, Dan Holt “We’re always excited to witness the meaningful outcomes this collaboration continues to create. We have worked with Ethical SCA for some time now and their new Lithgow site is a great achievement“.

“Ethical SDA Lithgow is committed to providing high-quality, specialist disability accommodation with a focus on dignity, independence and community connection” said Timothy Roberts, General Manager, Ethical SDA. “Working with SCIA’s Peer & Family Support Team deepens our community connections and helps residents and families access the lived‑experience insights that make a real difference day to day.”

Over the coming months, our Peer & Family Support Teams in the Central West, Blue Mountains and Greater Sydney regions will work closely with Ethical SDA Lithgow to coordinate engagement opportunities and shared initiatives.

We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will bring to our SCI community.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the Peer & Family Support Team.
