Share your story and be part of our history

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is excited to be celebrating our 50th anniversary this year.

As part of the celebrations we are inviting our community of members and clients to share their story with SCIA so we can create an online gallery and showcase our rich history through your contributions.

We are asking everyone to submit either a story, photos or a short video to share ‘What SCIA means to me’. We will use these to create a bumper issue of our publication accord, and use video clips and photos to commemorate and celebrate this milestone birthday on social media and our website.

If you would like to submit a written story or photos, please keep to a limit of 250 words, and send a caption for each photo. You can email to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

If you would like to send us a video, please use your mobile phone and try to keep your video less than three minutes so you can send to us easily. Make sure you film in good even  light, and try to frame yourself against a plain background. It is important you speak clearly and slowly, and there aren’t too many distracting background noises.

SCIA was established in September 1967 by a group of young men who were facing a life living in institutions. This group of young men founded Australian Quadriplegic Association (AQA) that became SCIA in 2003. We would love you to take part of our anniversary celebrations and leave a legacy for the future of SCIA.
