Join our peer support research project for young people with spinal cord injury (SCI)

We’re looking for young people aged 12 – 25 and living in New South Wales or Victoria living with a spinal cord injury to take part in co-designed research!

SCIA, in partnership with Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service at The Royal Children’s Hospital, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, the NSW Paediatric Spinal Outreach Service at Northcott, the SpineCare Foundation, is launching a peer support program for young people with SCI.

This program will help young people with SCI build confidence, navigate key life milestones, and connect through shared lived experiences.

What’s involved?

Depending on the stage of the research, you may be invited to:

• Join paid focus groups
• Take part in individual interviews or surveys
• Participate in a pilot version of the peer support program during which you’ll receive one-on-one peer support intervention and group sessions

Your input will help us design a meaningful and youth-focused program that tackles real-life topics such as learning to drive, travel and independence, friendship and dating, starting higher education or an apprenticeship, high school electives, work placement and exams, or accessing the community independently.

Be part of something powerful with your carer or family member, contact Project Coordinator, Liala Cadelli at lcadelli@scia.org.au.
