We would like to take a moment to announce the retirement of our Chairperson Michael Rabbitt at Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA). We are grateful for his leadership and contributions during his tenure, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours.
We are pleased to introduce George Panos as the new board Chairperson effective 20 March 2025. George has been an integral part of SCIA as a Non-Executive Director, where his wealth of knowledge, strong commercial background and fresh perspective will be invaluable to us as we move forward.
“I am truly humbled to step into the role of Chairperson and to continue the incredible work Michael has spearheaded during his time with SCIA. Having served on our board for over six years and being actively involved in several committees, I have witnessed firsthand the profound difference SCIA makes in the community. On a personal note, it has been a privilege to work closely with Michael. He helped steer SCIA through numerous challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficult economic conditions that followed. His ability to navigate these complexities while ensuring that SCIA’s mission remained on course has been invaluable. This experience, combined with my personal understanding of the challenges faced by families living with spinal cord injuries, including those of my own family members, fuels my commitment to SCIA’s ongoing mission. I am excited for this opportunity and look forward to commencing this role.” says George.
SCIA CEO Dianne Lucas says, “I want to thank Michael for his unwavering support, commitment and contribution as Director and Chairperson at SCIA. I wish him all the best in the future. I welcome George on this exciting journey and look forward to working with him in his new position as Chair.”
We, once again, want to thank Michael for his dedicated service to SCIA and outstanding leadership over the last six years. Under Michael’s guidance, SCIA has experienced tremendous growth across all our services. Not just for those living with spinal cord injuries, but encompassing those living with neurological conditions, and their loved ones. His leadership has also ensured we have maintained the highest standards of care and service, reinforcing SCIA’s strong reputation in the community.
