When I was travelling airNZ last year, they left one of my wheelchairs in Auckland on my long ass flight to LA. Basically, they were informed before we landed, and came over to tell me as quickly as possible. They had it on the next flight in already and that was due in a couple of hours. Turns out it was the basketball chair they’d left there (thank goodness) and I could still use my daychair. I have a feeling they would provide you with a chair before yours in returned to you (which they did via Uber for free). I was fortunate enough that they were quick and upfront about it, and I had my cushion so no pressure issues would have come of it.
