Emergency care

While personal care support is available to assist people in the community, quite often the hours are restricted or there is no flexibility to provide one-off, temporary or emergency support. The Occasional and Emergency Services program operated by Spinal Cord Injuries Australia was set-up to address these issues by providing a team of personal care workers and registered nurses to support people with a spinal cord injury or other physical disability on a flexible, daily or emergency need. The service is based in Maroubra in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and is open to people who reside within the geographical boundaries of Randwick/Botany so as to maintain a response time of 15 minutes to each call out within the scheduled hours.
