How to apply
If you would like to participate in Walk On, please follow the steps outlined below to assist you in submitting your application.

Criteria to apply include:
- A complete or incomplete spinal cord injury (traumatic or non-traumatic) at any level from C2.
- Ability to breathe independently. Ventilator dependent people are encouraged to contact Walk On to discuss your options for attending the program.
- Be discharged from hospital rehabilitation prior to commencing the program.
- Providing a recent bone density scan and medical clearance from a medical practitioner who has interpreted the bone density scan result. The medical clearance must be specifically for the Walk On program.
There are no age restrictions to attend Walk On. However, please note that Walk On does not specialise in paediatric development. If your child is under 16 years old, Walk On will work with your treating paediatric physician or therapist to develop a suitable intensive activity based program. It is strongly encouraged to contact Walk On to discuss your child’s attendance in the program before you apply.
Step 1: Download Application Pack
If you meet the above criteria, potential clients must download the Application Pack and complete the following:
- Walk On Client Application Form
- Spinal Cord Injuries Australia Membership
- Walk On Direct Debit Payment Form
- Service Agreement
- Client Acknowledgment and Checklist
You must also send through (or your doctor may fax directly to Walk On):
- Your doctor’s medical clearance with their interpretation of your bone density report, AND
- A copy of your bone density report.
Please note – your Medical Clearance and Bone Density Scan can be sent through at a separate time to your application, providing you supply Walk On with a copy prior to your commencement.
Step 2: Complete Application Pack and send to Walk On
Once you have completed the forms attached in the Client Application Pack, you must send your completed application to:

Remember: You must send through (or your doctor may fax directly to Walk On):
- Your doctor’s medical clearance with their interpretation of your bone density report, AND
- A copy of your bone density report.
Once your application is received, the Walk On team will assess your eligibility and will contact you via email or phone to discuss and confirm your eligibility for inclusion in the program and your place on the waiting list. For this reason, please ensure the contact details provided on your Client Application Form are correct.
