Back injury a wake-up for all workers

"Grant Denyer’s hospitalisation with a spinal injury after crash landing a monster truck is a sobering reminder of how easily we can experience a catastrophic injury whether in the workplace, on the roads, at home or pursuing recreational pursuits", said Spinal Cord Injuries Australia CEO Peter Perry.

“It appears Grant will eventually recover; one of the Teamsafe ambassadors was not so lucky with his truck experience” he said, commenting on the prevalence of workplace injuries resulting in a spinal cord injury in Australia. “Daniel Swain has no memory of the accident that changed his life forever. At the age of 23, about to marry his long term partner pregnant with their first child, proud owner of his first home and making good money in a job he loved, Daniel literally didn’t know what hit him.”

“We wish Grant a full recovery, but need to be aware that workplace safety awareness is paramount and with some injuries, like Daniel’s, they can be life changing” concluded Mr. Perry.

“Together we can make complacency the only casualty.”
